“A Call to Action: Safeguarding New York’s Children of Incarcerated Parents”

Who:  The Osborne Association’s New York Initiative for Children of Incarcerated Parents, a coalition of government and community-based partners. Event is hosted by the Prisoner Reentry Institute at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
            Note: Children and family members of incarcerated individuals, as well as formerly incarcerated             parents, will be available to speak to reporters.
 
What:  Coalition partners will release unprecedented report focusing on vulnerable population of children; recommendations from their report advance cost-savings, agency coordination and improved outcomes for children and the criminal justice system.
 
When:  Friday, June 10th 2011, 10:00-10:30am.   Media set up time is 9:45am.
 
Note:  Panel discussion to follow, including distinguished experts from the fields of corrections, education, mental health, caregiver support, and family services who will discuss the implications of the recommendations. (10:30am – 12noon; media welcome to attend)

            Note: Campus security will be posted at this entrance and will require all guests to show             identification to enter.  Once admitted, guests may board the downward escalator to the lobby floor where an elevator bank at the end of the lobby will provide access to the sixth floor.  Once        on the sixth floor, guests should proceed to Room 630.
